Journey Of Sight

About

Journey of Sight (JOS) is an art exhibition showcasing portraits of how the visually impaired see the world. It is a journey of rediscovering eyesight bestowed by God.

Our eyes are like our own exclusive living digital video camera that can never be compared with any other man made cameras. Imagine capturing thousands of images in a blink of an eye, and can be replayed over and over again in our minds; and these images can be relived thru the touch of a loved one, smell of a flower, taste of a food or even through a familiar favourite song.

Mission

The objective of JOS is to rekindle the splendors of GOD’s majestic creations seen through the creative eyes of both the sighted and visually impaired Artists. Throughout this Journey we pray and hope that viewers will relearn to appreciate and care for their GOD given good eyesight.

Overview and Description

Eyesight… A sense treasured by all but neglected by many! Did you know that every 5 seconds someone somewhere in this world loses their GOD given good eyesight! Babies, children, teenagers, adults and the elderly are all not spared from this loss of a much treasured sense. WHO reports that by 2020, that figure will be increased to 1 person every second, 86,400 per day, and 31,536,000 in a year! Do you know that more than 80% of this blindness is totally unnecessary! This 80% can be reduced through increased awareness, improving accessibilities and a change of attitude to not take their GOD given good eyesight for granted.
